The garden.
Nature: source of artistic inspiration.
The magical U-shaped building hosting the I.A.M., the workshops schools
and the library, holds in its inner court-yard a garden from which it
is possible to see the wonderful gulf of Naples.
The garden retraces, in its essential lines, the plan of Italian formal
garden and the presence of various exotic botanical species reflects the
nineteenth-century taste.
This garden is important not only for its bothanical heritage but for
its didactic purposes as well.
As matter of facts, Prince Filangieri and Palizzi wanted real nature examples
to study (landscapes, plants, flowers, leaves and animals) in order for
the students to learn life drawing, which would later be reflected in
the artistic production.
