The State Institute
of Art "Filippo Palizzi"
Born as Artistic Industrial Museum along with the connected school-factories,
was founded by the prince G.Filangieri and D. Salazar, in 1882 and it
has become, in the second postwar years, a State Institute of Art.
The institute has, besides the Artistic-Industrial Museum, a prestigious
library in which more than nine thousand volumes are stored among whom
rare publications and collections on Industrial Arts.
Inside, along with the cultural subjects classrooms, many workshops are
specifically equipped for painting, goldsmithery and metal-working, sculpture,
graphic design, ceramics,architecture and interior design.
In the multimedial workshops, a recent achievement, students are allowed
to experience computer graphic, developing their professional and creative
skills.
The Palizzi Institute of Art offers different kind of specialization:
- Printing
- Ceramics
- Goldsmithery and metal-working
- Sculpture
- Painting
- Architecture and Furnishing
-"Perfezionamento" ( a two years course specialization after
the High school
Diploma)
- Post-Diploma courses
With the Art Institute Diploma students can attend:
- All University departements
- The Fine Arts Academy: Painting, Sculpture, Set and stage design, Decoration,
Photography
- Two or three years special University courses
- Superior Industry Artistic Institute (I.S.I.A.) : Faenza for Ceramics,
Urbino for Graphic Arts, Rome and Florence for Design
